A blooper with some consequences

The subject matter of the Biden's slip of the tongue (the suffering of the middle class) wasn't very important for me. It could have been the poor state of highways during the same period, or dearth of Coca-Cola, or any other issue - true or invented.

Nor was the issuer of the blooper of importance. If, like many a popular beauty in school that favors some homely or outright ugly friends to attenuate her hotness, the current POTUS prefers to carry that travesty of a partner, so be it. Somebody probably is already spending an advance for a book of Biden's bloopers.

I was more interested in a (totally bipartisan) blame reassigning method that could be learned from this story. It could really become a trend for the politicos of the ruling party. Bidden possibly coined a new political standard: whenever you want to blame the previous administration, no matter how long ago that administration retired, just say "the last 4 years". And everyone will know what you are talking about.

Taken to perpetuity or absurdity: assume for the moment that somehow the current administration finds a way to continue for 20 (or 40, whatever) years more, and every year or so Biden issues a statement like this one. Imagine:
  • The space research was totally neglected last 4 years, but...
  • The oil price was allowed to soar last 4 years, however...
  • The War On Drugs was a total nonsense last 4 years, and we intend...
  • Etc
And everyone knows it's GWB's fault!

Nirvana...
