Tal El-Melouhy, a Syrian blogger, dies in jail

According to this (Hebrew) article, Syrian female blogger Tal El-Melouhy died in jail. Tal El-Melouhy was a pro-Palestinian blogger, criticising the French initiative for peace between Israel and Syria.

A missing 19-year-old Syrian blogger, Tal El- Melouhy, is being held in a prison near the capital Damascus on espionage charges, local media outlets reported Tuesday. El-Melouhy is a detainee at Duma women's prison, some 20 kilometres north-west of the city, according to the dp-news website. El-Melouhy's family had been unable to confirm her whereabouts since she went missing 10 months ago, but they suspected that she had been detained by Syrian authorities.

Whether you agree with her views or not (and I serverely doubt that I would support a pro palestinian and anti peace stance!) she did not deserve that fate.

Strange how the anti Israel lobby conveniently forgets the massive human rights abuses in neighbouring states

Hey! Sounds like you have a good group heading on right here. I'm unable to publish wherever else since my password hasn't arrived yet, but I desired to introduce myself here in this.
Name is Jesenia; Currently finishing up my Physics Major at OSU, and can most likely stay at OSU for my graduate studies. I'm a recent convert on the YEC model and I'm really enthusiastic to find out more about it -- which is why I'm right here.
I probably won't submit for a week or so, as I'll be spending my time studying all previous messages attempting to have a experience for what has by now been mentioned.
I look forward to debate and discussion.

Yep, the fact is that she dared to post something against the regime and was tortured and murdered for her trouble.

Seems to me she was none too bright for trying to be a blogger in a police state in the first place.

Thanks Snoopy for posting this article.

Dick, maybe it was not smart for Tal El-Melouhy to post criticism of the Syrian regime, but it was awfully brave of her. And it is such bravery that can sometimes change a nation or a world.

That too, of course. But at least she tried to exercise her rights. Or what she thought were her rights.

I guess, David, that in this case bravery only killed the lady. It will not change Baby Assad's regime.

I'm for it, David. Let all the world's clueless commit "bravery" in such a way and evolution's work will be done.
