3 gay Jews elected to Congress. Is there a lesson in this news?

WASHINGTON – Three openly gay Jewish candidates have been elected to the US House of Representatives and will begin their terms in January 2011: Long-time Massachusetts legislator Barney Frank, the mayor of Providence, Rhode Island, David Cicilline, and Colorado's Jared Polis.
I am not saying I am interested in that position yet, knowing zilch about the hours, the wages, the perks and the locale*. But re gayness - is it really a prerequisite these days?

(*) I guess it would be convenient to be a citizen too...

Is it necessary to be a butt boy? I doubt it.

Yeah. Right.

So why does Ynet put so much stress in a trivial news item?

Maybe they like Sodomites. (Sorry, I just finished Neal Stepehenson's 3,000 page Baroque Cycle novels and I'm stuck in 17th century Brit vocabulary.)

3,000 pages? You must have steel cables for nerves, Dick!
