About Hamas' "conditions" for ceasefire

Just a stray thought while I am looking at the list of Hamas' demands (the mere chutzpa of the word "demands"...):
  • Immediate ceasefire and Israel withdrawal from the Gaza Strip
  • End to blockade and opening of crossings for people and merchandise
  • Extending the freedom of movement for sailors to 12 nautical miles
  • Cancelling the 'safety strip' around the Gaza border
  • Establishment of an airport and a seaport in Gaza
  • Rehabilitation of the Strip and a promise of emergency aid with the help of an international committee of donors to be convened by the Palestinian unity government
  • The release of the fourth wave of Palestinian security detainees originally promised by Israel to PA
  • Release of Shalit deal prisoners who were rearrested during IDF Operation Brother's Keeper and the release of Palestinian Legislative Council members also arrested in the op
Strangely, if we leave aside the last two points (that wouldn't have been relevant anyway), Gazans could have had all the others for free in 2005, without strife and without bloodshed.

Had they only decided to turn their thoughts to peaceful coexistence instead of maniacal urge to kill more Jews.

Thanks, Hamas...

Cheeky bastards, ain't they? Bomb 'em.

Very funny, and very appropriate sending it to the NYTimes. See how they like them up close and personal. And think of all that new waterfront property for southern Israel.

The more you bomb them the cheekier they get, it seems like.

IDF is not doing it right, apparently, or Bibi's calling the wrong shots.

No argument from my side about this.

Yep, I read that one. Whether he want to wear out us or Hamas is indeed the big question.

Hashem help Israel if Jerusalem can't get it together and soon.

SnoopyTheGoon said...

Indeed we better do set ourselves straight soon.

As you often say, "Unbelievable."

Just so you can sleep better at night. "Israel has no better friend" Obama.

This cease fire Israel has agreed to is a terrible mistake. They were winning on the ground and they were winning the pr side too. I just can't believe it.

Yes. Speechless today.

Might be a good point to visit.

Same here, I can assure you.

Interesting idea. Of course you would have to cut Gaza off from Israel and Egypt first, persumerbly by blasting, maybe some underground testing of nuclear devices on the Gaza border would do the trick. Then Gaza would have to be towed far enough out to sea so that it could not float back.

Another solution would be to follow Nizo's advice and dig a five mile wide channel, flood it, separating Gaza from Israel and Egypt.

Five mile channel wouldn't work. Their ability to dig under is only growing with time ;-)
