Iain Banks, RIP

59 is not a fair age to die. But he left quite a few great books that would be read for a long, long time.

I keep trying to find a tale of his that I can enjoy. Haven't yet. I think it's the weird names for his characters that are hard to imagine how to pronounce that slows his plots down. That and his interminable sentences. I guess he thought he was SF's answer to Faulkner. "See you later"? Have you gotten religion behind my back?

I am more into his non-SF prose. About five books in, intending to continue.

As for religion: nah, it is just a turn of speech. After all, I am not that far from joining the hosts' crowd...
