On the English Defence League (the “enemy of my enemy” is sometimes still just my enemy)

This picture speaks for itself, doesn't it? Still, you have to read the whole post by Adam Levick.

I ike Bob's description of the EDL - a far-right flashmob.

As far as I am concerned they are a rabble of bigots led by hardcore nazis

There is no comon ground with those scumbags

What can you expect from people with unreadable, unprounounceable names?

On the other hand, it's good to see a public manifestation of what has been obvious for a long time: that, despite what you may read in the comic news media, sharia doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell in taking root in the West.

Looking at these defenders, Dick, I am not sure about the invincibility of the West ;)

Thanks Snoopy for this post and the link to Adam Levick's article. The EDL is definitely another attempt by British Fascists to set up a front organization that appears to be non-fascist and takes advantage of the growing opposition to extremist Islam. It would be suicidal to try and make any sort of common cause with them. Over at Harry's Place they have recently have had a number of posts about the EDL. One of them is about Pamela Gellar of Atlas Shrugged who supports the EDL. Link to it at http://hurryupharry.org/2010/10/15/the-edls-american-apologists
