Khurram Sher case: Idol is the root of all that's bad in this world

CBC dryly reports:

The RCMP have charged three Ontario men for allegedly taking part in a domestic plot, and possessing schematics, electronics and explosives related to creating improvised explosive devices.
Them mounties are doing their job, and this is cool with me. However, one detail is passed over by CBC and could be found here:
The third man arrested in the Ottawa anti-terrorism raids is a former Montrealer who once auditioned for Canadian Idol. Khuram Sher, 28, moved to London, Ontario a month ago and is said to be a 2005 graduate of the McGill medical school and was in 2006 Pakistan during the relief efforts after an earthquake in Kashmir. He sang Avril Lavigne's song Complicated in a 2008 Canadian Idol audition.
And here he is for all to enjoy:

I always felt something smelling bad about these Idols. Now we all know...

Hmm... you are awake, I see. Haven't I warned you about excessive friskiness?

They shouldn't have put the idea of an alternative career into his head.

Yeah, in my opinion he should have won that Idol no matter what.

BTW, he wasn't joking when he claimed that he was fond of hockey.  There are 8 suspects; apparently most of them played ball hockey for an Islamic charity.

Another criteria? Gosh, it confuses the heck out of me.
