In fact, the original story is quite long, and I have decided to convey its essence in a few words for people in the computing business.

How to ctrl, alt, delete $48 billion

1. Inadvertent deletion of a hard disk
2. Panic
3. Panic caused reformatting of a backup hard disk
4. Backup tapes unreadable (when were the backup tapes readable?)
5. No disaster recovery setup
6. ... gloom... more gloom...
   
7. 300 cartons of paperwork to scan...
