On the fallout of Tucson tragedy

So far the best on the consequences of the shooting I've seen - by Peter Risdon:

A vicious, insane attack by a lone gunman in Tucson, Arizona, was seized on as an excuse to attack opponents in terms devoid of moral and intellectual integrity, leading to days where the political debate seemed a matter simply of wading through ordure, hurling handfuls at long-standing opponents.
Read the whole post. I promise that it's good.

Well, somebody has to love Obambi's speeches. Most of us ignore them on principle. Wanna take a bet on whether he'd have bothered to go there and speak for so long if the slain and wounded had all been Republicans? Or is that too, too cynical about the man who came into office attacking Fox News and Rush Limbaugh?

Peter whom I quoted is hardly a lefty. No, I am not a betting person. As for cynicism, I am not shocked at all, besides if attacking Fox and Rush could make one a POTUS, why not?

Looks to me quite kosher that way ;)

Thanks Snoopy. And no, I'm not a lefty and I'm not, in general, an admirer of Obama but he did exactly what was right for a President on such an occasion. It was a breath of fresh air.

I hope your health has improved, amigo.

Oh, the health: it's OK, as the doctors predicted, thanks.

Thanks Peter, that was a very good post. Thanks Snoopy for linking to it, hope you are doing alright. Obama's speech was just what the country needed after the Tuscon murders. It may be the best he has ever made. There were several parts that were particularly moving none more so than the part about Christina.
