Now Turkey threatens to freeze EU out too

The Turkish international activities are reaching a state of frenzy. First Turkey became sad at Syria. Then they decimated their relationship with Israel. Following up with pissing off a good part of Egyptians.

Probably doing the countries one by one became too boring for the hyperactive Mr Erdogan, so he decided to go for a package deal now:

EU-candidate Turkey will freeze relations with the European Union if Cyprus is given the EU presidency in 2012, Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay was quoted as saying by state-run news agency Anatolian late on Saturday.
So, who is next on the list of the expanding freeze zone? Should Obama start buying warm underwear?

Well, there's at least one thing in Turkey's favor. They're not going broke like the rest of the EU. I'm surprised he hasn't weighed in on Greece's belly-up. Must be heartwarming to see Turkey's old enemy in deep doo-doo.

I think Mr Erdogan would do well to llearn the meaning of the expresion "Cutting your nose off to spite your face"

As far as I remember the no-nonsense approach of Turkish Sultans, this may yet happen when the next ruler comes to replace Erdogan. But it's not gonna happen soon.

Turkey is <span>NOT</span> a member of the EU, may never get EU membership and should keep its mouth shut!

True, but would Erdogan listen to two of us?

Next thing that Erdogan will do is to threaten that if the enitre world does not do what he wants that he and his govt. will hold their collective breaths till they turn blue!

Probably the reason why the Turkish economy is doing well is that their economic advisors are the descendents of the Sephardic Jews that ran Turkey's economy under the Sultans.

I like the idea about holding their breath. Should be tried.

As for economy - well, could be.

<span>In a recent interview on Chalie Rose with Orhan Pamuk, Charlie wanted to sound the latter for his positions on Turkey's recent devolutions but Pamuk refused to be drawn in. Except on the matter of Israel, where he expressed his deep chagrin at the deterioration of the relationship. Pamuk was tried In Turkey a few years ago for hurting "Turkish honour" when he wrote about the Armenian genocide. He was sentenced in absentia to three years in jail but the sentence was appealed and cancelled. However ever since that episode, he has been extremely careful not to criticize Turkish policies. When the scandal was at its zenith, I googled to see what Turks were saying about him on message boards. And sure enough, one of the common complaints against this "traitor" was that he was actually a Jew. He is said to be a descendants of the Jews who had converted to Islam together with the Sabetai Zvi, in the 17th century.

Here is a sample (from 2007):

"... by the way, the current head of the army whose name is Yasar Buyukanit is also a zionist jew.

the major media corporations such as hurriyet, milliyet, sabah, cumhuriyet, vatan are also run by secret jews called Doenmeh.

the only lady prime minister of turkey of 90's - Tansu Ciller is also a secret Jew.

The late so-called novelist Orhan Pamuk, who received a fake nobel prize from his western brothers, is also a secret jew."</span>
