Interesting, but I wonder how many open debaters would survive Herr Putin's continuing savagries? He seems to be able to reach out and murder those he doesn't like.

Yes, he is definitely frisky lately, and the new age of Russian "historians" seems to be hell bent to restore Stalin to his full glory.
