Tired of Fighting: Keeping an Eye on the First Front

We are tired of fighting, we are tired of being courageous, we are tired of winning, we are tired of defeating our enemies, we want that we will be able to live in an entirely different environment of relations with our enemies. We want them to be our friends, our partners, our good neighbors.
Howard Rotberg reminds these words of Ehud Olmert which, come to think of it, are not really ancient history. As for the different environment: yes, it is different, but not in the way Olmert intended.

Lower your expectations and clean your guns, seems to be the message of the day. But read the whole article, please.

Keeping your guns clean is always a good idea. As for Rotberg's claim that Slick Willie disarmed U.S. soldiers in 1993, ahem, I beg your pardon, but that is B.S. As far back as 1968, when I was a platoon leader in the Sixth Armored Cavalry, my troopies were never allowed to carry arms except at the range or on guard duty. Otherwise the arms were kept in the armory in the basement of their barracks, inside a steel-mesh cage with triple padlocks. Only military police and officers or ncos on CQ (Charge of Quarters) duty carried pistols. Just like what was going on at Hood when the Jihadi Major shot up the dispensary.

But I agree that Israel should not be doing the unilateral tap dance, no matter what Obongo or Mrs. Slick Willie (or our new phony diplomat, Lurch) have to say about it. That they do appears to be a testament to the insecurity of Israeli politicians who fear losing the goodwill of these nitwits. It is highly amusing, though, don't you think, that the MB-connected advisor to the Lizard Queen was so dumb that she married a flasher?

Interesting, so Rotberg doesn't know enough about American army. Soviet Army also used to lock the weaponry.
