Being gay in Moscow (Russia)

The level of homophobia in Russia is known and discussed quite widely. However, nothing beats a recorded real life experience like this one. Two brave (and straight, by the way) guys are imitating gay behavior on the streets of Moscow. Enjoy.

It might be worth your while to browse the comments. Some of them are in English and quite educational.

As far as people looking, I have to admit guilt here. In the town were I live, you never see men holding hands. I recently visited Amherst Massachusetts, where this is common. I found myself looking at men holding hands, not judgmentally, but just in the way of looking at something unusual.

You see it in Austin, Texas, usually in the downtown entertainment district. We have a fairly large gay population. But i bet they don't do it much outside of Austin, certainly not in some rural Texas towns where it might attract more than stares or comments.

Yeah, I wonder what happened after the film stopped. It seemed like there was a real confrontation starting.

Well, Moscow is supposed to be the cultural capital, the most progressive one etc...

True, and I understand it, but here we are talking Moscow.

Indeed, I am more than sure some blows were exchanged.
