This is not all that surprising:
On Tuesday, the United Nations again made itself an international laughing stock – except perhaps to the American taxpayers who continue to foot 22 percent of the bill – by appointing North Korea chair of the U.N. Conference on Disarmament. And I am not at all sure that UN's goal was to make itself an international laughing stock. After all, they are pretty consistent and insistent.
It's a pity Pol Pot is dead. He would have made a swell UN chief, I think.

Kim's news agency always said he was the leader of all world progressive people . . .
Well, time to dance to the new tune, I guess. Sorry, to march to the new tune.
Pol Pot could have been a great commissioner for human rights. I suppose Assad and Ghaddafi can jobshare now their current contracts are due to expire
;)
Oh, well, I hope the dictator's club soon names Hamas and the Brotherhood as co-chairs to a new commission on religious divsersity.
I agree that the biggest laugh here is on the U.S. Congress. Not that they were unmockable to begin with.
Yeah, Hamas and MB seem to be heading there indeed.
For some reason, perhaps because of all the coverage of the Casi Anthony trial, I had not heard about this. (dry sarcasm)
Thanks for posting about this latest farce from the UN.
I really fail to understand the continuing support of this circus by US. By now it's become a dictators' club, thinly veiled by PC slogans and other bullshit.
