Yes, that article set a new high, or is it a new low, for North Korean propaganda. Can you imagine just how distorted the mentality of its author is.
It is quite difficult to render the part you quoted in terms an Imperialist can understand, but roughly, it means "I would really like a potato right about now, but I am afraid to say it openly because I might get sent to re-education camp." I think I figured out what many of the strange syntactic lurches in these sentences are: the author's stomach growling.
I don't know about mentality, but his digestion, as you can see from translation, is fine.
