German anti-Semitism: comfortably in the middle

The headline and the lede explain the gist:

Anti-Semitism remains prevalent in German society

A new report has found that one in five Germans harbors anti-Semitic feelings. This puts Germany at about the mid-range among European countries.

But there is more in this Deutsche Welle article. A worthy read.

Update: Coincidentally, another poll has found out that one in five young Germans unaware of Auschwitz. Interesting match, ain't it?

And the "remedy" proposed (of filtering/censoring the 'net) is not the answer. Worse: it'll drive the menuvalim underground (into 'darknets', as infiltrators into establishment parties,..), making any response 10x more difficult.

Absolutely true. I too prefer them out in the open.

It is not the Internet.  It is the media, the NGOs and the politicians themselves who constantly bash Israel.  Unsurprisingly, people then think that the Jews in Israel are evil people.

Well, Internet adds a useful tool to spread the poison. However, censoring is not a solution.

Has there ever been a time when Germany wasn't anti-Semitic?

A bit depressing, but not too surprising, given how many Germans and Austrians were devoted Nazis or members of the Waffen SS who survived the war and passed their poison on to their children and grand-children.
Dick, I have to mentally remember not to call the Germans, Krauts and not to emphaize the Germ part of German!

OT, but related: This is the 10th anniversary of the kidnapping and brutal murder of Daniel Pearl by Al Qaida Terrorists in Karchi, Pakistan.
