Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.According to Wiki, this saying was coined by Anne Isabella Thackeray Ritchie (1837–1919) in her novel, Mrs. Dymond (1885).
But there is a Russian version of that saying. Translated back into English, it reads:
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and then come weekend absences, alcoholism and, finally, divorce.Yep.
Russian fishing: senseless and merciless
