A nice glimpse into the mindset of the Open Zion management: their recent change of the comments policy and its immediate effects, as partially described by The Contentious Centrist.
Here is the set of rules as published:
COMMENTING RULES WILL BE APPLIED FROM NOW ON. NO MORE ARGUMENTATIVE THREADS. NO MORE LONG COMMENTS WITH LISTS OF HYPERLINKS. NO PERSONAL INSULTS. NO RACIST COMMENTS ABOUT ARABS, JEWS OR ANYONE ELSE. USERS VIOLATING THESE RULES WILL BE BANNED.Aside of noting that the moderator, or whoever posted this, considers the upper case to be more penetrating, I just love the "NO MORE ARGUMENTATIVE THREADS" part. Somehow after reading this I felt an urge to stand at attention, to salute and to click my heels smartly afterwards.
Strangely or not, so far the most foul-mouthed anti-Zionist commenters are thriving, while pro-Israeli ones are being banned. Probably for being argumentative.

Thanks for posting this, Snoop.
Here is the latest gem from one of those foul-mouthed anti-Zionist-antisemite thrivers on Beinart's blog:
'Why use locutions like Zio-Nazi?'
Because there are parallels between the goose-stepping variety and the white-shirted mobs on
J'salem day, between those who wanted to murder a people and those who claim that another never existed, between those claiming a threatened Fatherland surrounded on all sides to justify atrocities and Israel
doing much the same. And, truth be told, because it drove the bat-s**t craziest of the worst of the crop of bigots that landed here in recent months livid. :-)" http://thebea.st/1aiwiYg
And this poster is not an antisemite, you see. He just likes the delicious frisson he gets when inflicting more pain on Jews by comparing them to Nazis.
And this is the desirable regular on Peter Beinart's blog.
I've been wondering: has Beinart really gone that far off the page? Or has his blog been invaded and colonized by these Rancid Left "journalists" and he finds himself incapable of fending them off without risking turning their wrath upon his own sorry ass?

You are welcome. As for your guess about Beinart: both seem to be true, plus the value of letting the freaks in is obvious: it gets readers, and it looks like Beinart is not very choosy about the kind of readers his pages get.
Yes, the all caps are emphatic. Let that be a warning to all argumentative comers who would dare disagree. I'd like to institute that one myself. Alas.
No, you surely don't want to follow in the steps of Open Zion.
