So, The Algemeiner tells us, Israel is planning the "world’s most advanced border system" between the Golan Heights and Syria. Can't imagine why, such a peaceful border really.
Of, of course, careless Syrian mortar fire, aimed at anti-Assad rebels and landing in Israel.
Actually, of course, it makes absolutely sense. The Assad regime is crumbling and there's no telling what will happen next. Better to prepare for the worst and make sure that no nasty shocks cme through that de facto border.

Well, you can't stop mortar or rocket fire with a fence, and besides what I've seen of the land along that border is mostly flat, miles of cultivated fields. Couldn't stage a surprise attack, unless you claimed the massing of tanks was only maneuvers like they did in '73. Not likely to get away with that one again.
That's true re the lay of the land, but there are a few wadis where you could conceal a significant force. Of course, today with the UAVs and the satellites it's much more difficult.
