I truly believe that we have reached the point where technology has become one with our world, and I think it is safe to say that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as the price of memory decreases, the possibility of copying our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I daydream about every once in a while.

Still hungover from Purim? :)

Too much candy this year? Or maybe too much Yarden?

Hope your Purim is going well, Snoopy. The week is going by quickly here in Washington.

OT, but related to an earlier post. The Education Ministry's Chief Scientist says he will obey his Minister. Read the whole story, "Head Scientist vows to toe the line on Darwin and global warming" at http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1153813.html

Things can change in a hurry. We were in a lockdown here at the Pentagon for a hour this evening because of a shooting at the Pentagon Metro (Bus & Subway) station. Apparently two Pentagon police officers have been shot as has the gunman who shot them. All three are being rushed to area hospitals. The lockdown has been lifted, though the Pentagon Metro Station remains closed. Will be headin home shortly, though will have to walk out Pentagon South Parking and through tunnel under Interstate-395 expressway to catch a bus for home. Will not take too long and is the same way I came in this morning.

See you tommorrow.

<span><span>Well ,Purim .</span></span>
<span><span>What are doing at Pentagon ?</span></span>
<span><span>Democracy is crucial for developing countries to fight against dogmatism.</span></span>
<span><span>Unfortunately democracy has to be achieved by people and it can not obviously be imposed on people.</span></span>
<span><span>A toddler can not learn math. People in developing countries should themselves achieve democracy . Economic Growth is necessary .</span></span>
<span><span>For example , videos can be made to illustrate Jews conditions and difficulties in Iran . </span></span>
<span><span>Israeli's attack  and Iranian regime can both hinder the process of developing a free press in Iran .</span></span>

<p><span>I am proud that Iran is the only country in the Middle East that has kept its Jewish population.</span>
</p><p><span>I fancied about Iran get to the point that its Jewish population become well-integrated in all level of society . I think that is going to be the only way for Iran to be able to take advantage of its Jewish scholars , journalists , investors and to guarantee their loyalties towards their mother country . </span>
</p><p><span><span>I want Iran to become like USA . I do not think American Jews think they are less American than the rest of Americans. Some work to protect the genuine interest of U.S.A . Some like their gentile counterparts are just corrupt .</span></span></p>

Guest: Thank you for your comments. I hope that the Iranian people succeed in their struggle to make Iran a democracy.

More on yesterday's shooter at the Pentagon. "Parents of Pentagon Shooter Warned Police: Authorities were told John Patrick Bedell was mentally unstable and might have a gune; anti-Gov't rants linked to Bedell" at http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/03/05/national/main6268926.shtml?tag=cbsContent;cbsCarousel

This time we were lucky. The two guards were only slightly wounded. The only person killed was the shooter unlike last year's attack at the Holocaust Museum where the shooter murdered a guard and this month suicide aerial attack on the IRS office in Dallas where a supervisor, a Vietnam Veteran was killed.

<span>Well , How about Stack ? was he a terrorist or not ?</span>
<span>I think if both of these guys had Muslim background , they would have  immediately got labeled as terrorists .</span>
<span> </span>
<span>Jobless , hopeless people often resort to terrorism , I guess .</span>
<span>Never mind, about what you do at Pentagon .</span>
<p><span>Pentagon’s job is to hire people like<span>  Bedell </span>in military , so they at least get killed for military complex corporation’s <span> </span>interests that so many people in Pentagon probably have a major <span> </span>share in them .</span>

They will ,if U.S and Israel lift up their useless economic sanction from the back of Iranian people and World bank just forgets about its putrid loans  to Iranian's regime .</span><span></span>
</p><p><span>Have you seen Clinton's speech in Saudi Arabia , talking about democracy in Iran .lol lol lol</span>

<p><span>Providing the minorities <span> </span>in Iran with security and freedom is what I desire .<span>  </span>It decreases the risk of <span> </span>civil war in Iran . It might prevent them to make an alliyah <span> </span>to <span> </span>the state of Israel or to go foreign countries <span> </span>( brain drainage ).At the very best a benign Iran might provoke a return of People in exile to Iran again .</span>
</p><p><span>If <span> </span>Israel favors <span> </span>alliyah , <span> </span>a democrat Iran = danger for Israelis interests . </span>

Thanks Snoopy for posting this. Kalo is quite a powerful singer. Her performance was very inspiring. (Since youtube is blocked here at my work website, had to wait until the weekend when I got to the public library's PCs to view her.

OT: Christopher Hitchens gives the 8th annual Daniel Pearl Memorial Lecture at UCLA. His talk is first rate. See the video at "Christopher Hitchens decries anti-Semitism in lecture at UCLA" at http://newsroom.ucla.edu/portal/ucla/christopher-hitchens-at-ucla-154692.aspx  (Hat tip to the Daniel Pearl Foundation at http://www.danielpearl.org ) Unfortunately the sound quality of the video may not be very good, but hang in there Hitchens talk is well worth the trouble.
Also link to "Anti-Semitism" at http://www.hurryupharry.org/2010/03/06/anti-semitism for Hitchens talk and a discussion about it.

OT: Snoopy, this should bring back memories of the good old days of the Soviet Bloc: http://www.hurryupharry.org/2010/03/06/why-the-wall-had-to-fall

I heard something about this on the radio. But no subsequent details.
