Thanks Snoopy for linking to the list of relief groups. One group that is involved in Haitian relief that is not listed is the Salvation Army. Their websites where you can find out about their help for Haiti and donate are http://www.salvationarmyusa.org & http://blog.salvationarmyusa.org  You can also donate by calling 1-800-SALARMY.
Haiti is a desparately poor country that needs all the help that it can get, not just for now, but for the months and years ahead as the Haitian people try to recover and rebuild from this latest horrendus tragedy which comes on top of several devasting hurricanes that hit Haiti in 2009.

Complcating matter greatly is that the legal Haitian govt* is a joke. The real govt., such as there is one, is the UN Stablization Mission, (7,000 soldiers, 2,000 police) whose civilian head, Hedi Annabi of Tunisia has reportedly been killed in the collaspe of the UN Mission's headquaters building, though that has not been confirmed by the UN.

*President Obama in his statement on Haiti said the US would work with the UN Stabilization Mission, other govts in the area and the NGOs who are in Haiti. He did not mention the Haitian govt. I do not think that was an oversight.

Not much of a government left, I suppose. Not that there was much to start with...

Yes, it's a catastrophe all around.
