Norman Geras RIP

The world will not be the same without Norm.

Our deepest condolences to Adele Geras, Jenny Geras, Sophie Hanna and all his near and dear we are not aware of.

Update: a blog normfest.org, newly opened as a tribute to Norm's life.

Yes, one can do much worse than learning from Norm.

He's lucky his family will keep the blog online, at least for a while.

I hope for a time long enough for me, all things considered.

I've just posted my own tribute to Norm on the normfest.org site, which I first posted on The Tablet site, where I first read of his death. He really was all the things people are saying about him (except for the ones who never really knew him, even at second hand, through the internet). If even Anne, of Anne's Opinions, who is an unashamedly right-wing, Likud-supporting, (of British origin) Israeli can mourn his loss (go look on her site), then he really must have been a good person.

The anti-BDS, pro-Israeli lobby will miss his sanity.

Indeed.
