Just like that? If it's a vacation you better have fun. If it's medical related, perhaps a little "religious communication" is in order courtesy R Lee Ermey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buSpGWq9aS4&feature=player_detailpage
Every time I see anything from one of those movies, I recall that the great tragedy of the reality which they represent is the way that men like that ultimately were betrayed by their government. A betrayal that continues and is the main reason we haven't won a war since Japan surrendered.
Good point. But the movie this came from like so many others is actually pretty bad and had little to do with that conflict, but I do love my R Lee! Hollywood has almost never got it right exception maybe "We were Soldiers". " Full Metal Jacket" is a good example. First half dead on, second half a lot of fantasy. Gunnery Sgt. Hartman was how DIs' were in those days, I remember well. What part of Tx do you call home? I'm in Austin.
We're both in Austin. I'm retired and live in Northwest hills, or what used to be Northwest Hills (off Far West Blvd) if you've been here more than a few years. Nowadays the reference is probably closer to Cedar Park. You can find more about me at the Texas Scribbler dot com.
Well knock me over with a feather! Looks like I've been preaching to the choir. Over 40+yrs. since we were young, agile, and handsome. I'm not as angry anymore about what happened. Anyway just over the hill (Braker and 183) from you. Was born here, still working. Annoying young liberals has become an enjoyable pastime.
Great scene, Sennacherib. R Lee Ermey is the best actor for the role of a Marine Gunny that Hollywood ever came up with. Have to see that movie, the Siege of Firebase Gloria.
Take care Snoopy, where ever you are and what ever you are up to. Probably something nasty for the Elders. (joke). Just remember that everyone here is thinking about you and keeping you in the prayers.
PS: Sorry I have been gone for so long. Have been pretty busy lately. Will comment when I can.

Thanks for the link, it's fitting. And no, it's not for medical reasons - medicine has already despaired of me.

Fitting? You're a little old for a call up. Haven't they got enough corporals?

Never! Now is the time to throw the pillows around, spill milk all over the place and force the cat and dog to be friends with each other.

Shalom.
Thanks David. Though I wasn't a fan of the movie, I do love my R Lee.
I'm not angry about it, but I haven't forgotten it either.
