The man who, I thought, will live forever, because he deserved to (not very sensible, I know).
There are many writers who brought delight to my life, but only a few names that made my heart beat with so much happiness at the sight of a new book on the library shelf. And his name was one of the few.
Rest in peace, descendant of a witch. See you later.

His books are marvelous, not like much of the junk we get from today's writers. Do you realize that the ABC's of Science Fiction are now all dead? Issac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, and Arthur C. Clark.
All have gone to the great Space Station in the sky.
It was sorry news. Still his books are with us
Bradbury was a wonderful, witty teller of tales that that reflected on the culture of Cold War America. Fairenheit 451, the Martian Chronicles and the Illustrated Man are probably his best.
One of my favorites is a short story from The Illustrated Man called "The Concrete Mixer" Written in 1949 at the beginning of the Cold War, it has a Martian (read Russian) Invasion landing in southern California. The invaders meet no overt resistance, but instead are showed with American consumer goods, fast cars and fast women. In this way, the Martians are defeated.
It is fitting that there is a crater on Mars named for Ray Bradbury.
Yes, unfortunately.
That true.
Yes, I know the story. And he was a wonderful teller indeed.
This story brings back fond memories of books I don't have anymore. For instance: The Best of Henry Kuttner. Bradbury wrote a very nice introduction to that one. I feel like getting my hands on a copy of The Martian Chronicles.
Of course. I do keep an e-copy of that one and a few others too.
Excerpt from article in NY Times March 19, 2006
"Mr. Bradbury's interpretation of current events instead follows another familiar line of attack: that the fury of the Arab world is blowback from the longstanding American policy of favoring Israel at the expense of the Palestinians. His solution to the Middle East impasse sounds like science fiction: create a new Jewish homeland in south Florida. "People think I'm joking when I say that," Mr. Bradbury said."
OK, thanks, and what do you offer me to do with this knowledge?
Hmm, create a new Jewish Homeland in south Florida. You mean there isn't one there already?! (joke)
Another possible Jewish Homeland would be Baja California including Tijauana and adjacent parts of northern Mexico. If enough Jews were to move there, the US could separate it from Mexico as we did Texas, California, etec back in the 19th Century.
In any case it sounds better than the Jewish Homeland being in Alaska as it was in "The Yiddish Policeman's Union".
He he. I too always thought that Florida is already a kind of Homeland.
Baja California is OK but for the earthquakes... Russian Jooz could agree to Alaska. There is oil, at least...
