Actually, Bedouins are divided by tribal royalties, so I guess the ones joining the ranks of Al Qaeda don't belong to the royal family tribe.

That part of the world has always interested me. The events after WWI, the fates of Lawrence, Abdullah, and Faisal all of it. I remember fairly well "Black September" and how that went down. So I should have at least guessed on the multiple tribe thing.

My knowledge though is second hand with all the problems that entails, which is one of the reasons I like talking to you and others for there is nothing like first hand experience.
Perhaps especially in SF, which a Slate piece the other day called the country's largest gated community. I.e, insular as all get out.
