Turkish president answered my question!

Some time ago, after a fresh Turkish ultimatum to Syria, delivered by Mr Erdogan, where he demanded that Baby Assad stop the bloodshed in 10 to 15 days, I have asked:

Or what?

Yesterday, Mr Abdullah Gul, the Turkish president, decided that 18 days that passed since are enough waiting for me and answered:

We are really very sad.
I think that being sad at Syria without prior notice is a cruel and unusual punishment that should be covered by some convention.

Well, this kind of emotional manipulation has worked for Jewish mothers for ages - why not for Turkish Prime Ministers?

Well, they are Turkish to start with...

At least he answered your question.  A new form of Turkish Delight?

Ach, the Turkish Delight... good of you for reminding me. Do you know how long it was since I tasted some last time? Cause I don't remember already.

Erdogan needs to raise the stakes. Next time Assad will have to go to his room to think about what he's done

Maybe leave him without the dessert first time?

I recently watched the Israeli version of "Pride & Prejudice" (adapted by Irit Linur) in which Zorky, the 15 year old recalcitrant daughter of the heroine, Allona, behaves recklessly and gets everyone running around the Galilee looking for her. When she is found safe and sound, her mother says:

- I need to find a really good punishment for her, something creative  that will teach her once and for all.

- How about piano lessons? Allona's sister suggests.

- There is no need to overreact, says Allona.

The Russian version of same will be (discussing what to do with a stubborn prisoner):

A: Maybe will should give him lots of vodka tonight and not a single drop when he wakes up in the morning?
B: No, we are not Nazis here!

Notice he said he was "really very sad," not just "sad."

Yes, the element of cruel intent is unmistakable ;)
