Eating a kayaker

I know it's callous and cynical to ask a question like this after a tragedy like that. Still, it must be asked, and it's fallen onto my lap to be the askee, so: how does a kayaker in his kayak look to a croc different compared to how an oyster in its half-shell looks to a diner in a restaurant?

Well, he had "a fantastic social conscience" despite being fairly stupid about crocodiles. Modern folks do seem to have a tendency to see wild nature as part of some vast amusement park designed for their recreation. Heh.

Kayaking seems to me getting as close to become an item on the croc's menu as possible.

No difference, Snoopy, between how that kayaker looked to the croc and how an oyster on a half shell looks to a diner.

Dick, that is exactly the problem in industrialized countries where most people spend their lives in urban and suburban settings. They have no idea of how dangerous nature can be. This results in things like this guy going out in croc-infested waters in a kayak. He might as well had a big sign pinned to his back saying, "eat me"!

The strange point is that this guy is described as an experienced guide etc. Doesn't he know better?
