3 gay Jews elected to Congress. Is there a lesson in this news?

WASHINGTON – Three openly gay Jewish candidates have been elected to the US House of Representatives and will begin their terms in January 2011: Long-time Massachusetts legislator Barney Frank, the mayor of Providence, Rhode Island, David Cicilline, and Colorado's Jared Polis.
I am not saying I am interested in that position yet, knowing zilch about the hours, the wages, the perks and the locale*. But re gayness - is it really a prerequisite these days?

(*) I guess it would be convenient to be a citizen too...

Pamela Anderson, Fur and Israel

Some Israeli bachelors (and sympathizers) are in a tizzy lately due to expected visit by Pamela Anderson. She is going to kick-start the new season of the Dancing with the Stars. She also hopes to persuade some folks to stop wearing streimels, at least ones made from real fur.

She if doing it very persuasively, using a powerful visual aid:

I don't know about the "Minister of Religious Services, Ya’akov Margi, of the religious political party of Shas". He is supposed to be a tough customer, but I, personally, feel that even with my accumulated animus (no pun intended) toward PETA, after a course in comparative study of human vs animal parts under Pamela's guidance, I could let my streimel go. If I had one, that is.

Daled Amos has more to tell about streimel, and you really could benefit from the knowledge. Although, to tell you the truth, I like my picture here better...

US election results, Palestinians vs Elders and more

The latest outcry by secretary-general of PLO's Executive Committee, Yasser Abed Rabbo, shows how difficult it is for Palestinian propaganda to get a handle on a simple and unified Elders' theory. Abed Rabbo said:

Israel intervened in the American mid-term elections in a bid to disrupt the Middle East peace process.
It's hard for an outside observer to figure out why the cousins' propaganda is so inconsistent. Holocaust is the more obvious example: first they deny that it happened, then they thank Hitler for a job well (but not completely, to their chagrin) done. First they deny the mere existence of Israel, then demand that it return to 1967 borders... Etc.

As for Israel "intervening" in some measly American mid-term elections: Abed Rabbo has to make up his mind. Either we, the Elders, control the Big Satan and then "intervention" is a totally wrong term or we don't and then what "intervention" could have occurred?

I don't know. The guy sounds confused. I am confused. Are you confused? Let's decide that we are all confused, OK?

Israel wins Cambridge Uni debate

We shall go slowly with this one, savoring it. First the lede:

Despite hostile audience, Israeli team marks unexpected victory in debate titled 'Israel is rogue state,' hosted by prestigious British university.
Good. Now to some details:
It's not every day that Israel marks a victory away from home, especially not on hostile grounds such as University of Cambridge in England. But on Thursday, Israel secured an unexpected triumph in the institution's prestigious debate club, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday.
So who was representing the feuding sides?
The Israeli embassy in London decided to send representatives Ran Gidor, the embassy's political advisor and a Cambridge graduate, and Shiraz Maher, a former radical Islamist that has become an enthusiastic Israel supporter.
The opposing side was represented by journalist and publicist Lauren Booth, the sister-in-law of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. ... and Mark McDonald, who heads the Labor party's Friends of Palestine & Middle East Association.
Uhu... the beauty and the lawyer. Between us, bringing Lauren Booth to the debate was a recipe for disaster on Palestinian side, since she still hasn't come down from the spiritual high she is experiencing. So her ability to sound coherent is in doubt. And then it went further downhill:
The event took a sharp turn when a few students from the pro-Palestinian camp raised pro-Israeli arguments during the discussion.
The result of the debate caused an uproar in various quarters, with some of the participants claiming that the pro-Israeli side injected a "sayan" (a pro-Israeli helper) to the other debating team. The most typical response is that of the eternally anti-Israeli AssaJew Philip Weiss:

Cambridge debate on Israel is undermined by wily neocon (is that redundant?)

Mr Weiss is obviously agitated, as a result it's hard to grok what exactly he is considering redundant. Anyhow, the long hand of Mossad is clearly in this debate, if you believe this, fairly odious character.

To conclude: I actually agree with one statement made by an anti-Israeli commentator that "these debates are of minuscule importance" and we shouldn't assign too much importance to them. However, it's still a pleasure and not to be denied.

And something smelly for a conclusion. An especially irked commentator of Mr Weiss' opus says about the "neocon infiltration":
Best advertisement yet for academic boycotts of Israel. This will have repercussions within that world, silent but deadly ones.
I am shocked... does the man really intend to commit a silent flatus during the next debate? Cambridge authorities must be warned immediately!

Honestly, how can William Sutcliffe not hate William Sutcliffe?

I mean, really, folks, it's inevitable, given the state of economy. I would hate him myself, but I am simply not paid enough for such a strong emotion...

Beware of Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri, the anal booby-trap expert of Al Qaeda!

I wanted to start this post with a warning addressed to the people of Yemen, but it appears that they are already aware of the menace.

Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri, started his illustrious, albeit so far fruitless, career of rocket scientist with attempting to launch his own brother Abdullah directly into martyrdom:
With the bomb hidden in a body cavity, Abdullah approached the prince and blew himself up.
Body cavity... I love them euphemisms. In other words, Ibrahim Hassan here just decided to stick it to his own bro, in the absence of other volunteers.

His next volunteer, the Pantybomber didn't agree to the use of his "body cavity". So Ibrahim Hassan built, so to speak, a workaround. In other words, he embedded the explosive around same "body cavity" - in the "martyr's" underwear.

And now even this offer is not attractive anymore to people of Yemen, so Ibrahim Hassan is down to stuffing PETN into secondhand printer cartridges...

Still, as long as he is at large, the danger is out there. So, if you are walking around (or plan to do so) in the streets somewhere in Arabian Peninsula and suddenly feel pain and/or burning sensation in your "body cavity" - ask somebody local to call the bomb squad.

Yeah, and generally watch your back.

Shabak (Shin Bet) and Heather Bradshaw cause multiple orgasms to Richard Silverstein

It so happened that our valiant security forces at Ben Gurion airport caused a lot of aggravation and unjustified humiliation to Heather Bradshaw, a visiting professor from Indiana University. Most probably another case of a mistaken identity. Since, as it seems to appear, the world is quite full of people called Heather Bradshaw, some other Heather Bradshaw (apparently related to Iran and Pakistan in some way) tripped the alarms in our overly sensitive security spiderweb and the wrong Heather Bradshaw got the treatment that was coming to completely other Heather Bradshaw...

Yeah, shit happens, and I only hope that whoever is responsible for the mix-up will be a mensch enough to visit professor Bradshaw and apologize. And somehow close the issue.

Which issue has another, less expected side effect. A rabid anti-Zionist assaJew Richard Silverstein was thrown by this unfortunate incident into a frenzy of activity: internet research, correspondence with everyone involved, long posts etc. When you read his post, it is clear how excited and happy the story made him (slow day in the life of Seattle anti-Zionist, I wonder?).

Watching Rich drooling and shaking of happiness, I wonder: after all, he cannot be that stupid* illiterate not to know that security mishaps of this kind happen in his own country almost on a daily basis, sometimes with a lot more absurd consequences. But no, no mishap that happens outside that small patch of land called Israel can cause Rich so much happiness, glee (and the orgasms). So smile, Richard:

Richard smiles...

(*) Richard is stupid, let's not forget it. Proof.
