At least it now seems likely that Washington area will be spared the full force of the storm. I was in the bathroom in my sixth floor condo apartment. At first I thought that there was some sort of construction work going on, then as the rocking became greater I realized it was an earthquake. This was the first time I had experienced one and having the ground move under me was making me dizzy when it stopped. There was not an evacuation of my building. For all the rocking there was no damage to my apartment. The only things that fell were a few books off the shelves and the Miss August pinup. A couple pictures also had to be straightened and that was it. A lot of shaking, but little if any damage and no deaths or serious injuries was the result of today's quake as far as the Washington DC area was concerned. <br /><br />PS: The nearest nuclear plants on the North Anna river between DC and Richmond shut down sucessfully.
