Does Roger Cohen read New York Times?

No, it is not a rhetoric question, as you may have thought first, seeing the headline. This here blog doesn't deal in idle purposeless questions, not during weekend, at least. If, however, you would like to know whether the Pope uses the Vatican restrooms, you can inquire there. Here we are all about enlightenment.

The reason to be interested in Roger Cohen's reading habits stems from his article Israel Needs a Grown-Up. Leaving aside the rest of its contents, here is a quote that needs clarification:
All have been angered by Netanyahu’s clumsy embrace of a Republican offer to step into the midst of American politics, an invitation accepted without the minimum courtesy of informing the White House.
The article with this sentence was published on February 5, while on January 30 NYT, which is still Roger Cohen's place of gainful employment, published a correction to its previous insinuations, that says:
An earlier version of this article misstated when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel accepted Speaker John A. Boehner’s invitation to address Congress. He accepted after the administration had been informed of the invitation, not before.
There could be only two explanations of this inconsistency:
  • NYT are too cheap to sent Roger a printed edition for his personal use, seeing as how he is still in exile in London.
  • Roger is not reading NYT at all.
Of course, you might want to hint at a third explanation. But really, folks, this will be going too far, I swear.

And we don't want to go any farther where jolly Roger is concerned, do we?
